Stairways and ladders are a major source of injuries and fatalities among construction workers. Ladder safety training is required for employees working on elevated platforms or who have job duties requiring the use of a ladder.



This Stairway and Ladder Safety course is required training for construction workers and supervisors who work at elevations and is in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1050 regulations. This course teaches employees to safely use ladders and stairways in construction settings.



OSHA rules apply to all stairways and ladders used in construction, alteration, repair, painting, decorating and demolition of worksites covered by OSHA’s construction safety and health standards.

Course Features

The Stairway and Ladder Safety training course consists of a full-length video featuring audio narration of text and more than 25 interactive animations. Students will complete a series of self-grading quizzes and a final exam.

An OSHA Study Timer tracks your study time and allows you to log in and out at your convenience. All completed hours count as Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

This 1-hour course is eligible for .1 Continuance of Certification (COC) points from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).

Course Content

This course teaches employees to safely use ladders and scaffolding in construction settings. Upon completion of the course, employees will be able to identify the importance of preventing falls from ladders and scaffolds, recognize the risks and hazards associated with ladders and scaffolding, interpret the OSHA requirements for ladders, scaffolds, and stairways, and understand work practices for using ladders and scaffolding safely.
